Phototherapy Guide
Apply Vitistop Gel to depigmented areas and wait 30 minutes before light exposure.
Use either a UVB lamp or natural sunlight. Do not combine both on the same day.
UVB lamp:
Adults: start with 30 seconds
Children: start with 15 seconds
Sunlight:
Start with 5 minutes of direct sunlight on vitiligo patches.
- No redness: increase exposure next session.
- Mild pink redness (goal): keep the same time.
- Strong redness: pause treatment until healed, then reduce time.
Sunlight rule: increase exposure by 5 minutes per session until mild, pinkish redness is achieved. Typical sunlight exposure is around 10–20 minutes, depending on skin type.
UVB lamp rule: increase exposure by 30 seconds per session until mild, pinkish redness is achieved. Typical exposure per area is around 3–4 minutes, depending on skin type.
Treatment goal: mild, pinkish redness (erythema) appearing 6–8 hours after exposure and fading within 24 hours. This indicates correct stimulation of pigment cells.
Perform phototherapy 2–3 times per week and always leave at least 48 hours between sessions.
Avoid Common Mistakes
- ❌ Inconsistent phototherapy sessions.
- ❌ Stopping treatment too early (before 3 months).
- ❌ Incorrect UVB exposure times.
- ❌ Incomplete regimen – skipping topical products or UVB light.
